3).Luke 10:38-42
Jesus Visits Martha and Mary
Now as they went on their way, he entered a certain village, where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to what he was saying. But Martha was distracted by her many tasks; so she came to him and asked, ‘Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her then to help me.’ But the Lord answered her, ‘Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; there is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her.’

4) Welcoming Jesus into our homes, into our lives this morning. We can greet visitors at the door and have a chat or …….. we can invite them in. When we do the visit goes up another level. We are committed to a more lengthy conversation. They see more of us, our home, how we live. We become more vulnerable to their gaze. But with friends……..you don’t mind. Jesus comes to us, not only as a friend, but as the Lord of all, the king of kings. Martha invited him in, but Mary opened herself up to him.

Here we are this morning in this sanctuary dedicated to the worship of Almighty God through Jesus. Jesus is here, and you and I are invited to sit at his feet and to listen to what He is saying. Amen.

5) Open our eyes Lord, We want to see Jesus.

O God our Father, who dost make us one,

Heart bound to heart, in love of Thy dear Son,

Now as we part and go our several ways,

Touch every lip, may every voice be praise –

Go with us, Lord, from hence; we only ask

That Thou be sharer in our daily task;

So, side by side with Thee, shall each one know

The blessedness of heaven begun below.

10). Benediction.
